Movers in New Jersey - Long distance, local, commercial, heavy

Tips for Moving to or from NJ
The following instructions are provided to assist you in preparing for your upcoming local, commercial, long distance, specialty, heavy, or estate move. If you have any questions about your move, please call us. We want to make your experience as smooth and worry-free as possible.

Your Boxes:
If you decide to do your own packing, please make sure that all of your boxes are closed, sealed with tape and are labeled to indicate where you want them delivered in your new home or office. If you plan to order boxes from Harrington Movers, please provide us with as much advance notice as possible so that we can properly arrange for pickup by you or delivery to your home or office. We want to make your local or long distance moves, in New Jersey or New York, as easy as possible.

You may also want to prepare a "care package" box for one or more rooms. This box should contain items you need right away. For example, your kitchen "care package" might contain your coffee maker, coffee, sugar, paper plates, etc. to help you get started the next morning. You might also consider a care package for your bathroom that could contain medicines, shower towels, shampoos, soaps, etc. Mark your "care package" boxes differently, so they stand out from your other boxes. Likewise, you may want to have each worker prepare a desk box for commercial moving in New Jersey.

Your Clothes:
We strongly recommend that you remove all clothing from closets, armoires, double and triple dressers and chests. Hanging clothes must be moved in wardrobe cartons, and dresser clothes should be boxed and sealed. Luggage may be filled with linens or folded clothes. Harrington Movers can not remove full clothing racks or garment bags.

Appliances:
The customer is responsible for disconnection and reconnection of all major appliances. You should make arrangements several weeks before your move date to have these services performed. Harrington Movers will not, under any circumstances, be responsible for disconnecting or reconnecting appliances. Please make whatever preparations are nessesary for heavy or specialty moving in NJ or NY.

Refrigerator:
Ice makers should be disconnected several days before your move. This will help make sure that the water shutoff valve has completely stopped the flow of water. For estate moves in New Jersey, which have more that one refrigerator, please plan accordingly.

Televisions, DVDs, VCRs, Stereo Systems and Personal Computer:
Must be disconnected and removed from their cabinets or desk units. Home entertainment systems should be removed by the company that originally installed the systems. We are equally concerned about the safety of your equipment during local, long distance and specialty moves in NJ and NY..

Window Treatments:
The customer is responsible for the removal of window treatments and accompanying hardware.

Lighting Fixtures / Ceiling Fans / Chandeliers:
These items must be removed and installed by an electrician or the customer.

Bedroom Units:
For bedroom units which were originally delivered and installed by a furniture company, we recommend that you call the company for assistance with dismantling and re-setup. If this is not possible, Harrington Movers will disassemble and reassemble the unit on an hourly rate basis.

Gas Grills, Mowers, Fuel-powered Equipment:
Under New Jersey State Law, propane tanks, aerosols, paints, gas cans, or equipment with fuel in the tank cannot be placed on vans. Please have these items removed or emptied before our crew arrives.

Swing Sets / Outdoor Toys / Sand Boxes:
Outdoor plastic or wood toys and toy houses should be dismantled before the crew arrives. Swing sets should be dismantled and reassembled by the swing set company. If this is not practical, Harrington Movers will assist you with the dismantling and reassembly on an hourly rate basis. Sand boxes must be emptied by the customer before the van arrives.

Gym & Exercise Equipment:
Small exercise equipment such as stationary bicycles, rowing machines, sit-up and weight benches can normally be moved as is. More complex gym equipment such as large treadmills and weight stations must be handled by an exercise equipment company. Please schedule such services well in advance of your move date.

House Plants:
Small potted plants should be moved by the customer. Some large potted plants and trees can be moved by Harrington Movers, but we cannot be responsible for any damage that might occur.
